Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Daily Science handles information when you use the Daily Science iOS application (the “App”). It describes the App as it operates today: most reading data remains on your device, while certain technical and purchase-related information is handled by the providers needed to deliver subscriptions, advertising, and content updates.
1. Who is responsible for the App
Daily Science is operated by Yusuf A. Kaya (“Daily Science”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). For privacy questions or requests, contact us at info@dailyscience.app.
2. Information handled by the App

| Advertising measurement information | The App includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK, used only to measure whether an installation or app open came from a Meta advertisement we run. The SDK sends Meta an app-activation event together with technical device, app, and network information, such as your IP address, device and operating-system details, and app version. If you allow tracking when the App asks for App Tracking Transparency permission, the SDK may also use your device’s advertising identifier; if you decline, the App does not enable advertising-identifier collection, and Meta can still receive privacy-preserving install measurement through Apple’s SKAdNetwork. | Content-delivery request data | The App ships with an offline archive and, in release builds, can check Daily Science’s content delivery network for archive and image updates. The delivery network is operated through Cloudflare infrastructure. As with any HTTPS request, the network may receive the requested URL, IP address, user-agent or comparable technical headers, time of request, and security or performance logs necessary to deliver and protect the content. These requests are not designed to include your favorites, reading history, or other in-app reading data. |
3. Why we handle this information
We use on-device information to provide the App’s core features. We rely on Apple and RevenueCat to process purchases and maintain Premium access. We use content-delivery infrastructure to provide and update the archive. We use AdMob to fund the free tier and to measure, secure, and deliver advertising, and we use the Meta SDK to measure the performance of our own Meta advertisements. Applicable privacy laws may give you additional choices concerning advertising and other processing; see “Advertising and your choices” below.
4. Advertising and your choices
Free-tier users may see banner ads in the Today, Discover, Favorites, and Space areas of the App. Premium subscribers do not see these ads. The App asks for Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission after the first-launch flow is completed. The Meta SDK collects the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking. You may decline that request or later change the App’s tracking permission in iOS Settings. Declining tracking does not prevent use of the App or purchase of Premium.
Advertising partners may have their own privacy notices and controls. Google’s privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy, and Google’s mobile advertising disclosures are available through its AdMob documentation. Meta’s privacy information is available at facebook.com/privacy/policy. 5. When information is shared
We do not sell your reading history, favorites, or preferences. Information is shared only as necessary with the providers that operate the App’s services:
- Apple, for App Store purchases, subscription management, operating-system services, and local notification permissions;
- RevenueCat, for subscription offerings, purchase processing support, and Premium entitlement status;
- Google AdMob and eligible advertising partners, for advertising in the free tier;
- Meta Platforms, for measuring installations and app opens that result from Meta advertisements; and
- Cloudflare, for delivery and protection of Daily Science content and images.
These providers may process information under their own privacy terms and may process it in countries other than yours. Where required, transfers are made using the safeguards provided by the relevant provider or required by applicable law.
6. Retention and deletion
Local App data remains on your device until you delete it in the App where that option exists, reset the relevant device setting, or delete the App. Deleting the App ordinarily removes its local container from the device; separately, Apple backup and restore behavior is controlled by your Apple account and device settings.
Apple, RevenueCat, Google, Meta, and Cloudflare retain information they process according to their own documented retention practices and legal obligations. We do not operate a Daily Science account database containing your reading history or favorites, so there is no server-side reading profile for us to delete.
7. Your rights and requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or information about personal data processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent without affecting processing already carried out before withdrawal. To make a request, email info@dailyscience.app and identify the App, your country or region, and the nature of your request. We may need enough information to verify the request and determine which provider holds the relevant data.
Requests concerning App Store charges, refunds, or subscription billing are handled by Apple. Subscription cancellation and management are available through your Apple ID subscription settings. Requests relating to AdMob, Meta, or RevenueCat data may need to be directed to the applicable provider, although we will help explain the appropriate route when we can.
8. Children
Daily Science is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information directly, contact us so we can address the issue. Advertising providers may apply their own age- and region-based controls.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the App’s data practices, service providers, or legal obligations change. We will update the “Last updated” date when we do. Material changes will apply from the date the revised Policy is published unless applicable law requires another notice or choice.
